Bonsai has long been thought to have been a Japanese art. But this is misleading; bonsai originated in China. Bonsai was actually brought to Japan by Chinese monks who introduced bonsai to the Japanese people. The idea of bonsai being originated in Japan is because the Japanese have become very involved in bonsai in recent decades. And in the process have invented rules and made breakthroughs too. Also Japanese bonsai are more popular than Chinese penjing.That is why the bonsai myth that Japanese bonsai are better or originated in Japan is so popular. But even before bonsai originated in China there have been finds in egypt of  hyroglyphs that show miniature trees in pots! From there we can draw the conclusion that bonsai has been around longer than we think. And we can also percieve that the human mind is somewhat programmed to make bonsai. But there is something clear bonsai will be with us if not forever a very long time. And we should do our best to advance the art,get better at it, and spread the art as well.
